Summer Learning Journey (Week 3 Day 4)

 Medical Mavericks

Hi bloggers, Pao is here👩👈, today I am going to talk about Florence Nightingale and Marie Curie. She was a nurse, so she was trained to be a nurse in Turkey. During the Crimean War, the hospitals were dirty. So she spended money on cleaning hospoital. She saved many lives as a nurse. On the other side, Marie Curie was a scientist. She conducted many experiments. She made new chimicals and new uses for x-ray. She earned two Nobel Prizes for her work. That was just a quick fact about Florence Nightingale and Marie Curie. Let me tell you some more facts about Florence Nightingale and Marie Curie.

1. Florence Nightingale  was born in 1820 in England, and Marie Curie  was born in Poland in 1867.

2.  Florence Nightingale was fluent in English, French, German, and Italian

3.  Marie Curie earned all this awards.

1.Nobel Prize in Physics
1903

2. Nobel Prize in Chemistry

That was just a quick fact about Florence Nightingale and Marie Curie. Did you know them? I didn't! Our task was imagine that we choose someone to give a Nobel Prize to. We have to say who would it be? Why would you choose them? We have to tell who you would give a Nobel Prize to and why. So here is mine.

I will give it to Simon Bolivar. I will have to go back in time because he is not alive.  But if I could give it to someone I will choose him. I think I have talked about him on my blog. He made a huge change to Latin America. He made the Spanis Empire stop leading some countries in Latin America. Thats why I will choose him. Who will you choose?

Thank you for watching

Bye Bye Bye👋👋👋

  1. Mālō e Lelei Pao,

Tino pai on a great post this afternoon about who you would want to award a Nobel prize to and why. I think it really awesome that you have chosen someone who you think is important and who deserves it.

I have never heard of Simon Bolivar before but I read about some of the things he has done, and I learned some new things about him from reading your blog but also doing my own research. I can see that he was a key person in the venezuelan military who lead a lot of the revolutions against the Spanish empire.

If I could choose someone to win a nobel prize, I would choose Taika Wititi he has is one of the many New Zealanders who has put our little old country on the map through all his works in the film industry and many other accomplishments he’s made.

    Nofo a,
    Kueni.
