Summer Learning Journey (Week 4 Day 4 activity 2)

Try Your Own Tapa

Hi bloggers around the world🌍👈, today I am going to talk about Fatu Feu'u. Fatu Feu'u is a Samoan artist who lives in New Zealand. His paintings are inspired on the tapa cloth patterns from Samoa, as well as tatau, weaving, carving, and mask designs. Many Pacific Islands have their own versions of tapa cloth. That was just a quick fact about Fatu Feu'u. Let me tell you some more facts about Fatu Feu'u.

1. Fatu Feu'u made 4 books

2. Fatu Feu'u emigrated to New Zealand in 1966

3. Fatu Feu'u was born in 1946

Those were some facts about Fatu Feu'u. Did you know them? I didn't! Our task was to create your own tapa cloth design. We have to describe what each part of the tapa cloth means. So here is mine.

Thank you for watching

Bye Bye Bye👋👋👋

  2. Kia Ora Pao,

It's me Gargee, back on your fantastic blog posts! Have you enjoyed the holidays since you finished? I hope you spent some time outside in the sun :).

Ka Pai for including extra facts when you didn't have to, it really teaches us a lot about the activity! I've personally never heard of Fata Feu'u before, and he sounds like such a creative artist, especially because he gets inspiration from a load of different things. That is so awesome that he also wrote 4 books, I need to read them sometime! Have you ever heard or read his books?

I really like your tapa design, I think it has a great meaning behind it! I find it excellent that you made it for Fiji, don't you think Fiji is such an incredible place? I also think that the meaning of a flower is beauty. Do you like flowers? I love them, but I don't have a specific favourite.

Have a great summer, and remember the Summer Learning Journey ends next week on Friday 24th. I've seen your comments everywhere, keep it up!

  3. Hello Gargee.

I have been spending some time in the Point Chevalier Beach. What about you? I very like flowers and I mostly like the sun flower and the rose. I haven't read or heard any of his books. What about you? Thank you again Gargee.
