Summer Learning Journey (Week 4 Day 1 activity 2)

Romeo and Juliet

Hi bloggers, Pao is here👀✌👈, today I am going to talk about William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare ued to write books, poems, and plays.  His plays are very famous and people still love them even though they were written a long time ago (And I mean a long time AGO!). Shakespeare wrote in English. However, it is not the same English that we have now in the present (and I don't mean the present that we give in parties, no. I mean right now in the present). That was just a quick fact about Shakespeare. Let me tell you some more facts about Shakespeare.

1. Shakespeare is considered the world's greatest dramatist

2. He wrote 38 plays and 154 sonnets! WOW!

3. Shakespeare was born 26 April 1564, in Stratford.

Those were some facts about William Shakespeare. Did you know them? I didn't! Our task was to write a short recount about what you did this morning and then a translating tool to turn it into Shakespearean English. We have to share both your English and Shakespearean translation of your recount. Here is mine.

This morning I woke up and then had breakfast. After having breakfast, I went and water the plants on my family garden. When I finished watering the plants, me, my brother, and my mum went for a 2 hours walk. My father was at walk that's why he couldn't come with us.

This m'rning i did wake up and then hadst breakfast.  Aft'r having breakfast, i wenteth and wat'r the plants on mine own family garden.  At which hour i did finish wat'ring the plants, me, mine own broth'r, and mine own mum wenteth f'r a 2 hours walketh.  Mine own fath'r wast at walketh yond's wherefore that gent couldn't cometh with us

Thank you for watching

  1. Ciao Pao,

I'm back on your blog after you finished the SLJ. Congratulations on that phenomenal achievement! Have you enjoyed the holidays?

What a fantastic blog post! Thank you for adding in amazing facts about William Shakespeare - I didn't know those either! That is such a large amount of plays and sonnets. Being the world's greatest dramatist is such a big role, and he sure does deserve it! Do you think he is a great dramatist?

Isn't Shakespearean English quite a weird language? I get so confused with the new words and added apostrophes. I find it difficult to believe that back then, this was how you were supposed to write!

That's fantastic that you had a nice morning - especially because you went on a 2 hour walk! Do you mean your father was at work? You seem very responsible for watering your own family garden, that's awesome!

Do you know any other stories/plays' of him other than 'Romeo and Juliet'?

I hope you have an amazing holiday! Enjoy the sunshine :).
